Spin for Jamaica

Earlier this year, I had the chance to meet Nurse Signs, one of Jamaica’s most beloved sign painters, through my dear friend and mentor Dominic Allnut.

Nurse’s vibrant hand-painted signs have shaped the visual language of Jamaica’s music scene for decades, from record shops to sound system banners. His work carries rhythm, colour, and pride. His artistry and story deeply inspired the creation of my upcoming pottery collection, my first in years.

Now, as the island rebuilds and Nurse works to repair his paint shop, we’re coming together to help.

Spin for Nurse Signs is a small act of community, two wheel-throwing fundraiser workshops paired with a donation option, raising funds to support Nurse and our local Jamaican farmworker community here in Niagara.

We’ll spin clay, play our favourite dancehall records, and pour a few Jamaican drinks in celebration of the art and people who inspire us most.
